ProHealth Care unveils design of Mukwonago hospital

Mukwonago’s new hospital will feature a stunning three-story glass façade and multiple design elements aimed at promoting healing and reducing stress.

ProHealth Care unveiled the design after submitting plans to the Village of Mukwonago Plan Commission.

The new hospital will be created through the expansion of ProHealth’s existing medical campus at 240 Maple Ave. and the renovation of existing space.

The project will include:

• 24 private inpatient rooms

• A surgery and procedure center

• Expanded and enhanced laboratory, imaging and registration areas

• ​A full-service kitchen and dining area

The new hospital will combine primary and specialty care, 24/7 emergency services, inpatient and outpatient surgery, outpatient services, advanced diagnostic imaging, laboratory services and a cancer center, all in one convenient location along Highway 83, just off Interstate 43.

Construction is expected to begin early in 2019. The hospital will open in 2020.

The hospital was designed with the input of ProHealth patients from the Mukwonago area. The design emphasizes natural light with windows in every patient room providing scenic views.

The hospital is expected to add about 100 new jobs in the community. Nursing, surgical, management, pharmacy, food service and other positions will be among those added. ProHealth’s Mukwonago campus already is home to a wide variety of medical services. The ProHealth Medical Group clinic there offers primary care and walk-in care. The campus also is home to the UW Cancer Center at ProHealth Care, a ProHealth Heart & Vascular Care clinic, an emergency department, a rehabilitation gym, laboratory services and advanced imaging services. These services will all continue to be offered without interruption during construction.

The number of specialty services is expected to expand as the campus is transformed into a hospital.
