Philosophy of care
“Cardiothoracic surgery addresses life-altering disease, and its procedures may involve significant risk. I have embraced teaching my entire medical career — not only for students, residents and colleagues, but also, and most importantly, for patients. Thus my practice philosophy, while comprehensive to the practice of medicine, centers on two simple principles. First, educate my patients so they can truly make an informed decision and second, perform a cardiac operation to the best of my ability for every patient who has made that choice.”
