This program is geared toward patients who have completed treatment. Our cancer experts will share strategies and tools to help you improve your health and well-being.

Description

You can live healthy and well after a cancer diagnosis. Our cancer survivorship program empowers you to improve your health and well-being with tools from our cancer experts, including nurses, dietitians, counselors and physical therapists. You will learn how to set goals for and improve nutrition, physical activity, stress management and sleep.

This series will be held in-person at Tricia's Troops Cancer Connection (2410 Milwaukee St., Suite C., Delafield) .

You will learn how to set goals for and improve nutrition, physical activity, stress management and sleep.

Sessions will be held on Thursdays from 5:30 to 7 p.m. 
Dates and topics for the sessions are:

Thursday, February 6 - Stress Management

Counselors introduce mind-body therapies, such as meditation, as proven methods to help relieve anxiety, stress, fatigue, and general mood and sleep disturbances.

Thursday, February 20 - Nutrition

Dietitians discuss cancer-fighting foods and practical tips for incorporating them into your diet.

Thursday, March 6 - Self-image

Cancer and its treatment can take a toll on physical and emotional health. Participants will learn how to cultivate a positive self-image, from the inside out. 

Thursday, March 20 - Physical Activity

Research shows that exercise and physical activity can positively affect the common side effects of cancer. Rehabilitation specialists outline the essential components of an effective exercise program.

Thursday, April 3 - Sleep

Clinicians offer strategies to improve your sleep. Participants learn why sleep is important to health, complete a sleep assessment tool and learn evidenced-based strategies to reduce sleep problems.

Thursday, April 17 - Creative Expression

The creative process plays a role in healing and enhances physical, mental and emotional well-being. Facilitators help participants understand how creative expression can quiet the mind and relax the body. Artistic talent isn’t necessary.
