Facing a cancer diagnosis and enduring treatment can be daunting. The UW Cancer Center at ProHealth Care recognizes the need for support at every stage of the cancer journey and provides a number of options from diagnosis through survivorship.
Cancer survivorship begins at diagnosis
Survivorship begins the day you are diagnosed with cancer and is a life-long commitment to health and wellness. Our cancer survivorship program is designed to address your overall health and well-being throughout the many phases of your cancer journey.
Whether you are newly diagnosed, in the middle of treatment, or post-treatment, we encourage you to consider our program. The survivorship program will provide you access to a team of specialists as well as educational sessions to help you achieve your personal wellness goals.
Whether your goal is to improve your physical, nutritional or emotional health, you will receive individualized care designed to meet your needs and interests.
Beat Cancer Boot Camp
Beat Cancer Boot Camp is provided through ProHealth West Wood Health & Fitness Center. It provides a supportive environment for those wishing to stay active during cancer treatment and beyond. The program is designed to:
Be effective and challenging
Provide options for all fitness levels
Combine stretching and strength-training to build stamina needed for daily activities
Vary exercise programs to keep each workout fresh and fun
Beat Cancer Yoga
Under the direction of a physical therapist and registered yoga teacher, participants in Beat Cancer Yoga are invited to refresh their mind, body and spirit. Participants:
Learn and practices breathing techniques for relaxation, clarity and better sleep
Improve joint mobility and muscle flexibility to relieve pain
Improve strength and fitness
Restore a sense of calm and well-being
Modifications will be given so that everyone can participate at their comfort and ability level.
Stillwater Cancer Support Services
The UW Cancer Center at ProHealth Care is proud to partner with Stillwater Cancer Support Services to offer support groups for patients, survivors, family members and caregivers. The groups are led by professional counselors and provide a regular, drop-in format allowing participants to share experiences and learn from others.
Look Good . . . Feel Better
Specifically designed for women who have been diagnosed with cancer, this class offers tips and suggestions to help you look your best and boost your self-confidence while undergoing treatment. To register, call the American Cancer Society at 800-227-2345.
Prostate Cancer Support Group
This group provides support for men who are coping with prostate cancer and their partners.
