Clinical Trials and Research
Clinical trials are research studies that explore the safety and effectiveness of new treatments. These studies can involve testing that is unique to one facility or a collaborative effort involving patients from multiple institutions.
The types of clinical trials include patient education, quality of life and symptom management, treatment and genetics. In addition to sharing the data from our own studies, our physicians have access to the most up-to-date clinical research as a result of our participation in large cooperatives. These include the Wisconsin Oncology Network and the national NRG Oncology Group (comprising three groups formerly known as National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project, Radiation Therapy Oncology Group and the Gynecologic Oncology Group).
