Geriatric Rehabilitation

Helping older adults improve strength, mobility, balance and more

  • Currently 13% of Americans is over the age of 65.  By 2030, that will increase to 19% of the population.

  • One out of every three older adults has fallen in the past year.

  • 600,000 knee replacements, 285,000 hip replacements and 53,000 shoulder replacements are performed each year in the United States.

  • More than 40 million Americans either have osteoporosis or are at high risk due to low bone mass.

  • Nearly 800,000 people in the United States have a stroke each year.

Individuals who may benefit from therapy include those who have:

  • Balance deficits

  • Falls/fear of falling

  • Weakness

  • Loss of mobility and function

  • Osteoporosis and osteopenia

  • Neurologic diseases, such as a stroke, Parkinson’s, ataxia

  • Urinary incontinence

  • Orthopaedic injuries and surgeries

  • Joint replacement surgeries

  • General pain

  • Arthritis and related conditions

An assessment begins the process

As part of developing your custom therapy plan, your therapist will perform a complete assessment using evidence based tools  to evaluate your strength, mobility, balance, sensation, function, and other pertinent items such as vision. We will review your medical history and medications and discuss your home environment and activities.
