Building strength so you can do more

Lung disease can be difficult to manage. Our team of experts understands the challenges you face and works with you to increase strength, enhance independence and improve overall quality of life.

Pulmonary rehabilitation is an exercise and education program specially designed for individuals diagnosed with chronic lung disease. Working under the direction of a board-certified pulmonologist, an exercise physiologist and a registered nurse coordinate your care. A dietitian also is available for consultation.

Breathe easier, do more and feel better

Pulmonary rehabilitation can help if you:

  • have a chronic lung disease such as COPD, asthma or pulmonary fibrosis

  • have had recent lung surgery

  • experience frequent shortness of breath and fatigue

  • have low exercise tolerance

  • require oxygen therapy

A personalized program to fit your needs

You are unique and so is your body's reaction to lung disease. Our team begins the program with a review of your medical history and evaluates your ability to exercise. A personalized exercise program is then developed and you will begin to visit our relaxed gym setting twice each week. Sessions include a blend of stretching, exercise, education and guidance. As your strength increases, the team modifies the workout intensity.

Knowledge is power

Education is an important part of the program. We work with you to ensure you understand:

  • the role of medications and proper use of inhalers

  • how proper breathing techniques can help manage symptoms

  • how to manage anxiety and improve self-reliance

  • how to implement an exercise program at home

  • the impact nutrition can have on your health and well-being

  • how to manage oxygen therapy

Once you graduate from the pulmonary rehabilitation program you will have the opportunity to participate in a maintenance program. You can continue to use the gym and receive ongoing support from our expert staff. We want you to remain motivated and feeling your best.
